All roads lead to Rome for Adra Chief Executive
A housing association Chief Executive from North Wales is gearing up for a long-distance cycle ride – all in aid of charity.
Iwan Trefor Jones, Chief Executive of Adra, who is also the Chairman of Gafael Llaw, will be setting off on a mammoth cycling trek to raise funds for the Doddie Foundation which is looking to fund research for treating Motor Neurone Disease.
Iwan will be part of the 24 strong Dodd1e’5 Gr4nd S7am team from Scotland, Wales and England who will cycle their way from Murrayfield in Edinburgh on February 28, visiting Belfast, Dublin, Holyhead, Cardiff, Twickenham, Paris and Monaco before arriving in Rome on 9th March.
The team will be carrying the match ball for the match between Scotland and Italy.
Iwan said: “I’m looking forward but equally dreading the ride in equal measures.
“It’s the hardest physical challenge I’ve ever had to face, but it’s all for such a good cause and I’m delighted to be part of such a great committed team that wants to raise funds for much needed research into treatment and cure for MND, as well as increasing awareness of the condition.
“The challenges faced by those impacted by Motor Neurone Disease are significant, not only for the individuals but also their families.
“We’ll be calling into schools and clubs throughout the tour and look forward to creating a buzz and raising the profile of such an important charity. But before that there’s a lot of preparations to be made and a gruelling training programme to follow.
“I’m looking forward to joining the Welsh captain Rob Boyns and my colleagues from Wales and beyond to take on this huge challenge”.
