A visit to see the latest development in Denbigh
Adra, a leading housing association in north Wales and Castle Green Homes, welcomed a delegation from Denbighshire County Council last week to see how land adjacent to Ysgol Pendref in Denbigh is being transformed into a substantial housing development.
Adra is currently developing its largest development of affordable homes to date with 110 homes.
49 of the properties will be for social rent purposes, with 31 being intermediate rent units and 30 being market rent properties.
The entire development includes a mix of 2, 3 and 4 bedroom houses.
Owen Bracegirdle, Adra’s Senior Development Project Manager, said: “We are very pleased to see the progress being made with the development in Denbigh.
“There is so much demand for affordable housing in Denbighshire, which reflects the national picture. Adra has made a firm commitment in its Corporate Plan to build new, high quality and affordable homes that people can be proud of, and we are committed to continuing the work, with the aim of completing it in the spring.”
Councillor Rhys Thomas, Denbighshire County Council’s Lead Member for Housing and Communities, said: “Denbighshire County Council is proud to work with registered social landlords such as Adra to build more affordable homes for our citizens.
“We are committed to ensuring we have quality housing which meets the needs of our residents. While there is currently a national shortage of social housing and affordable homes, this partnership approach will increase the local housing stock to ensure we can meet that need.
“Denbighshire has long been recognised as the top performing north Wales Authority for delivering affordable housing and this development, which has also focussed on delivering greener properties, means our residents will not only be living in affordable housing, but they will also be able to save money on their energy bills at the same time. I look forward to hearing how they’ve settled into their new homes.”
