Ambitious renovation project improving tenants’ quality of life

Adra is proud to announce a significant project which includes installing solar panels and battery storage units on homes in south Gwynedd.

The project includes 19 properties located in Corris, Aberangell, Aberllefenni, and Dinas Mawddwy. This project has been assisted by £500,000 of funding through the Welsh Government’s Optimised Retrofit Programme for renewable projects. The work includes installing solar panels and storage, along with re-roofing, installing windows and doors. External wall insulation will also be added, along with improvements to sheds, paths and fencing.

GH James was appointed as the contractor, ensuring that the work was completed to a high standard. These installations will improve the energy efficiency of the homes and help tenants make savings on their energy bills.

During a recent visit to Dinas Mawddwy, Mrs Davies, one of Adra’s tenants, praised the renovation work carried out on her bungalow. She was particularly proud of the solar panels, knowing it would lead to significant savings in the long term.

Mrs Davies said: “I appreciate the long term benefits of the solar panels, knowing that my home is more energy efficient and my electricity bills will be lower,” she said while thanking Adra and GH James for their efforts.

Raymond Hughes, Tenant Liaison Officer with Adra, went to visit Mrs Davies to ensure that the work was completed to a high standard. He said: “We work closely with our tenants to ensure that the refurbishment not only improves the quality of the homes but also improves people’s lives. The work is an example of our commitment to creating homes that safer and more sustainable.

Elin Huws, a property surveyor with Adra, explained the long-term benefits of energy efficiency improvements such as solar panels to tenants: “As a property surveyor, we always consider the long-term benefits for our tenants. Installing solar panels not only helps to reduce energy bills, but also creates homes that are more durable and environmentally friendly. This project contributes to our goal of making Adra houses more sustainable over time.”

After the visit, Raymond and Elin, along with Mrs Davies visited Ysgol Bro Idris, where GH James presented donations as part of their social value commitment to the community.

Llinos Bracegirdle, Adra’s Social Value Coordinator, said: “We would like to extend our thanks to GH James for their generous donation of gifts to Ysgol Bro Idris as part of their social value commitment to the community. It was also nice to receive the positive feedback from Mrs Davies in Lawnt y Plas regarding her experience during the renovations on her bungalow. We commend the exceptional work of GH James and the assets team during this period.”
