Celebrating International Women’s Day

Tomorrow (Saturday, 8 March)  is International Women’s Day, an opportunity to celebrate the significant contribution of women within our organisation and the huge impact they have on improving services to our customers and helping communities to thrive.

Today, some of our colleagues attended a WISH (Women in Social Housing) network meeting at Cartrefi Conwy in Abergele.

WISH North Wales is a movement for positive change in gender equality, led by an influential and committed board determined to support those working in the housing sector, particularly women working in North Wales, reach their true potential.

Through a welcoming, inclusive community the network helps more women into positions of influence and promote housing as a sector full of opportunity and career of choice.

Today’s WISH session had Tara Hussein as a guest speaker. She’s the Director of Goldmark Training Services. The theme of the event was “Accelerated Action for Women – I have a story to tell”

The session celebrated women’s voices and the importance of taking action to advance equality for women.

Tamany Wyn Clwyd-Jones, our Business Development Co-ordinator, said:”It’s nice to have women from our industry coming together to celebrate International Women’s Day. It was great listening to Tahira discuss her background and how she has come through difficult times in her life.

“You never know what people have been through and we’re still able to learn from each other and celebrate each other”.
