Three local learners secure paid placements through Academi Adra
Since being established back in 2021, Academi Adra has gone from strength to strength.
Our Construction course is one of our most popular courses.
This is the course that Dylan, Tomos and Trystan recently completed.
Our courses offer a week’s training and a week of work experience with us or one of our partners. At the end of the course everybody is given an opportunity to apply for a paid work placement with us.
Trystan, Dylan and Tomos were all successful and have been offered paid work placements with Academi Adra.
Paid work placements
Trystan’s 16-week paid work placement is with our Partner, Williams Homes. He is part of the team working on a 10 million investment to provide 41 affordable homes for ClwydAlyn and Grŵp Cynefin in Penrhyndeudraeth. These homes are super energy efficient and are being built using the latest green technology.
Ceri Ellis-Jackson, the Programme Lead for Academi Adra said,
“We are extremely grateful to Williams Homes for working with us and offering a unique opportunity like this for local young people to learn about the latest construction methods within their communities. We are looking forward to courses with Bangor University and Grŵp Llandrillo Menai to start at our Decarbonisation Centre, Tŷ Gwyrddfai in Penygroes, to educate learners about the greenest building methods. It’s great to see Academi Adra learners go on to get a paid Work placement and provide an invaluable service within our communities by being part of the process of providing new affordable housing to Clwyd Alyn and Grŵp Cynefin.”
Tŷ Gwyrddfai
Through our courses in Tŷ Gwyrddfai we will be educating local people on the latest technology in green energy and how to use it. Ensuring that local skills and talent stay local to decarbonise our homes.
While Trystan is busy building homes in Penrhyndeudraeth, Dylan and Tomos are busy with our repair’s workforce. We are proud that our experienced workforce can educate the next generation of builders, carpenters, electricians, and plasterers.
As Tomos has a background in plastering, his work placement will be on one of our schemes in Trem yr Wyddfa, Penygroes. As a company we are committed to developing and investing in our existing housing stock to improve the condition of our homes and for residents to feel proud of their homes. Tomos will play a key role in this element of our work as a company. Hopefully at the end of his placement with us he will have developed and grown a lot as an individual and the skills he’s developed will be beneficial to him when looking for work or going on to further training locally.
Dylan was keen to gain experience in different trades. As we have so many different jobs here in Adra, we have organised a program with a wide variety of different trades within our workforce. The programme will give a taste of different aspects of the work which will help him when thinking about the next step in his career.
